TheInstitute for Healthcare Improvement(IHI) offers IHI Open School, online courses that teach the foundations of improvement, safety, system design and leadership. IHQI strongly recommends IHI’s Open School courses as they offer exceptional content and are very well-produced.

IHI Open School is free to faculty, residents and students. When youcreate an account, type in, “UNC School of Medicine – Chapel Hill, NC” for the organization. If you are faculty, select “Teacher/Professor” as your primary role on the demographic information page. You should then be able to access the full catalog of courses. The Lean Enterprise Institute (LEI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Boston, MA, with a mission to make things better through lean thinking and practice. LEI develops hypotheses about lean thinking and experiments to see which approaches work best in the real world.
