The mission of The George Sheldon Society Surgical Interest Group is to enable those medical students who are interested in surgery the ability to access information and experiences about the surgical profession and its associated environment.

In addition, the group seeks to expand the knowledge of the general medical community concerning topics pertinent to surgery and to perform volunteer community service through the assistance of the Department of Surgery. The group is dedicated to providing medical students with guidance on a career in surgery, surgical training, the application process for surgical residency, work-life balance and to help them connect with surgeons on research projects.
